Youth Educational Watershed Model and Presentation

The VI Trail Alliance and the St. Croix Hiking Association join forces to participate at the 2023 Eco Fair

The VI Trail Alliance and the St. Croix Hiking Association join forces to participate at the 2023 Eco Fair hosted by the St Croix Environmental Association.

The presentation is designed to engage with students from 3rd to 6 grades. The event takes place at the Botanical Garden over 2 days. On April 19th it is anticipated that 400 students will rotate through the presenter's exhibits, over the course of the day, in small groups of 10-15 students at a time. The second day, on April 20th an on-line presentation will share the information via pre-recorded videos for those students who were unable to attend in person.

Alma Winkfield and Steve Cohen built the model out of recycled materials that brings the St. Croix Spring Gut Watershed to life for an interactive, 3D educational model and the presentation expands the natural and man-made elements that effect the way in which storm event flood waters pass through the watershed from the ridge to the reef. This video then becomes an educational tool for future student interactions.
